The period between the late sixteenth century and early nineteenth century saw significant changes in the colours available to painters. Artists' Pigments c 1600-1835 is a carefully documented study of this transition from medieval to modern colours. This hardback first edition book published by Butterworths, London, 1970 is in good condition. The dust jacket is unclipped and the front free end paper is signed by the author and dated 1st July 1970. Under the dust jacket the book is in white cloth boards with bright gilt lettering on the spine. The pages are unmarked although the edges and a few pages show slight foxing and some browning in line with the age of the book.
