JOHN DOWLAND: ADVANCE COPY SENT TO AND OWNED BY GRAYSON BURGESS
Published by Faber and Faber Ltd (1972). Study of, and biography, of John Dowland; one the greatest musicians of the Elizabethan and Jacobean eras. 'This is not merely a biography but an encyclopedia of everything that is known about John Dowland, with abundant musical examples and discussion thereof.'
This is an advance copy. It was sent by the BBC to Grayston Burgess (famous countertenor and conductor) in March 1972. Enclosed is a letter from the BBC accompanying the book and confirming Grayston Burgess was to perform on a BBC radio programme. The book has also been signed by Grayston Burgess.
CONDITION: used, very good. The edges and covers are very lightly bumped and the top and tail of the spine has minor scuffs. The text has some thumbing to the page edges but is otherwise clean. Page edges have some minor foxing as well as F.F.E.P's. The dust jacket is complete. It has a few marks along the edges, but these are very minor. It is now protected by a removable plastic jacket which can be removed without harm to the book. The documents inside the book are clean and have been protected in a simple plastic wallet.
